SDGS

(Zero Hunger)

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 global goals established by the United Nations in 2015. They aim to address various social, economic, and environmental challenges by 2030. The goals cover a wide range of issues, including poverty, hunger, health, education, gender equality, clean water, and climate action. Each goal has specific targets to measure progress toward sustainable development on a global scale.

  1. The topic i chose was "Zero Hunger". Zero Hunger is one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is defined as the objective to ensure that everyone has access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and preferences, and that all people have the ability to acquire the food they need, without compromising their economic, social, and environmental well-being. The "Zero Hunger" Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) aims to end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture. Hunger is defined as a condition resulting from chronic lack of food consumption. In the long term, chronic hunger can have a bad impact on people's health and cause high public spending on health. Most of the world's population is now chronically food-scarce and unable to obtain enough food to meet their minimum energy needs. Millions of children under five years old (toddlers) suffer from chronic or acute malnutrition during seasons of food shortages, seasons of hunger and social unrest, this figure continues to increase. Therefore, with one of the SDGs goals, namely "zero hunger", it is hoped that this problem can be overcome. Zero Hunger has five goals, there are :

  2. The graph displayed in the zero hunger infographic includes price increase data from 2015 to 2021, where in 2015-2019, food prices experienced an increase in prices at a rate of 15.2%. with the pandemic, conflict and climate change, as well as increasing inequality affecting these conditions so that in 2020 there will be another spike with an increase in food prices of 48.1%. in 2021, the price will decrease to 21.5%. Despite global efforts, by 2022, an estimated 45 million children under the age of 5 suffer from wasting, 148 million children will experience stunted growth, and 37 million children will be overweight. Fundamental changes are needed to achieve the 2030 nutrition targets.
Several data sources related to "Zero Hunger" and its contents:
  • 1 : In 2022, the prevalence of malnutrition remained unchanged compared to 2021, following a significant increase in 2020 due to the pandemic and a slower increase in 2021. The global population facing chronic hunger reached 9.2 percent in 2022, up from 7 .9 percent in 2022. in 2019, affecting approximately 735 million people, which is an increase of 122 million people since 2019. It is estimated that more than 600 million people worldwide will face hunger by 2030, this includes challenges big in achieving the target of zero hunger. Global trends regarding the prevalence of hunger and food security reflect the interaction of two opposing forces. However, these forces have different manifestations in various regions. Hunger continues to increase in West Asia, the Caribbean, and throughout the African sub region.
  • 2 : discusses the many people who are hungry, the reasons why many are hungry, how to achieve the goal. How many people are hungry? People who experience moderate levels of food insecurity are usually unable to eat healthy and balanced meals regularly due to limited income or other resources. Why are so many people hungry? Shockingly, the world has experienced unprecedented levels of hunger again since 2005, and food prices in many countries remain higher than in the 2015–2019 period. How can we achieve Zero Hunger? There needs to be investment in rural and urban areas as well as social protection so that poor people have access to food and can improve their livelihoods.
